A lot of people are noticing, and commenting, that teens today seem to be skipping the ugly awkward stage, and going straight to the beautiful butterfly. With my current living situation, I am the perfect person to tell you, that these statements could not be any more true. Aaron's sister, my sister-in-law, Maddi, is fourteen right now, and the pictures prove that I never looked that good.
This past weekend was Maddi's first homecoming, and of course, it was a big deal. The morning started early with her hair appointment, followed by nails, and then makeup. Cut for a Taco Bell break, and then one million photos. It was a long day, but she was a peach the whole time. Actually... much more pleasant than I remember being myself...it might have something to do with having her look put together by professionals, or the fact that I was wearing fishnets and trying to find enough eyeliner to line the eyes of my entire school... Who really knows.
In any case, I blame the internet. Blogging and YouTube have changed my life. I've probably gotten better looking in the last five years of life, than I ever have. If only I had access to this wealth of knowledge as a child, I could have skipped the black nail polish Avril days... but if I had, I would have no experience with this cruel world, life's rejections, and you wouldn't get to see this:
