I was an ugly kid...

A lot of people are noticing, and commenting, that teens today seem to be skipping the ugly awkward stage, and going straight to the beautiful butterfly. With my current living situation, I am the perfect person to tell you, that these statements could not be any more true. Aaron's sister, my sister-in-law, Maddi, is fourteen right now, and the pictures prove that I never looked that good.

This past weekend was Maddi's first homecoming, and of course, it was a big deal. The morning started early with her hair appointment, followed by nails, and then makeup. Cut for a Taco Bell break, and then one million photos. It was a long day, but she was a peach the whole time. Actually... much more pleasant than I remember being myself...it might have something to do with having her look put together by professionals, or the fact that I was wearing fishnets and trying to find enough eyeliner to line the eyes of my entire school... Who really knows.

In any case, I blame the internet. Blogging and YouTube have changed my life. I've probably gotten better looking in the last five years of life, than I ever have. If only I had access to this wealth of knowledge as a child, I could have skipped the black nail polish Avril days... but if I had, I would have no experience with this cruel world, life's rejections, and you wouldn't get to see this:

Lets take this moment and give thanks for all that our awkward teenage moments prepared us for in life.

I'm too lazy to feed myself

What I've Been Eating

It has been my intention to share a new recipe every Friday. And here we were, on Friday, with not a recipe in sight! It's just one of those things that didn't work out this week. Mainly because I haven't been to the grocery store in months. But, I can't even defend that, its ridiculous, I've eaten McDonalds like three times this week. I'm disgusting, send help.

So, I don't have a recipe. What I do have is pictures of some of the things I've been eating instead of cooking. Enjoy!!

We went to Terry's Terrace because it is close to our new home/where we are currently parking the Airstream. I remember going there one time and it being absolutely amazing. This time didn't quite live up to that memory. We tried the Fried Pickles, Lobster Bisque, and Buffalo Chicken Wrap. It was all okay, and it was kind of pricy. While I didn't hate it, we probably won't go back...

why I love working out

Remember that time in Legally Blonde when Elle says, "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't." Well, that's reason number one. Working out boosts my mood to another level. So, if you've been feeling down, go work out!

Let's say you really aren't a fan of your boyfriend, but you have a huge move coming up. You can't very well end things with the person who is about to move your furniture right? Wrong! Many men today aren't walking around showing their heavy lifting skills anyway. Lifting weights a couple times a week can help you gain independence and then you can do that shit for yourself.

I cry a lot. I would say, pretty much any feeling that I am having comes out as my crying: happiness, sadness, anger, whatever. And sometimes, especially when I'm pissed, crying can make me feel weak. Of course, sometimes you need a good cry. But trust me, I am seriously over doing it. So, it is nice when there is something else for me to channel those feelings into. Exercise makes me feel strong. Pushing myself when I want to quit, breaking records, achieving things that once were impossible, these things are not just about physical strength, but emotional and mental as well.

It is not a secret that regular activity will improve your confidence. Working out and being healthy just makes you feel good. If a good mood, independence, and emotional strength aren't good enough reasons, I would think that being hot totally is. If I'm being honest, "exercise makes you hot" was my immediate thought after I quoted Elle Woods.

Do you love exercise too? Why?
