our "wedding shower"

I call it our "wedding shower" in quotes because we didn't actually call it that.
as I have mentioned a few times before, our wedding planning process was quite stressful,
and the "shower" was not any different.  Aaron and I are not traditional by any means,
but some of our family members are and our ideas didn't always mesh well.
according to tradition, you are only supposed to invite those to the shower that have been invited to the wedding.
we only invited probably 30 people to the wedding, so that seemed like a very silly rule to us.
we wanted to invite everyone and have a nice casual time.
so instead of something expensive and crazy, we just had a big back yard party.
it was probably more like a graduation party than a shower, but we had an amazing time.
and we called it "a celebration party," at least that is what the invites said.

I should probably try passing the camera off a little more often, but I promise I really was there.

my Saturday night

alright so...
please don't judge me for using this app again!
I am a busy person... Well ok, that's not exactly true.
but really I went to bed last night at 8:30.
my body is having a hard time adjusting to waking up at a single digit time.

over the weekend I spent some time with my friend Megan.
I'm trying to get to know her fiancé a little better before their wedding.
I feel like it is kind of strange to be a bridesmaid for someone and barely know the other person.

Megan and I decided that we wanted lo-cal drinks that were not very sugary.
we are old and have stomach issues. so we were like, ok we are just gonna do shots of belvedere.
as you can see, that didn't work out exactly.
it obviously didn't taste that bad, but Megan isn't really much of a shot person.
we ended up making miniature mix drinks. vodka, organic apple juice, and cinnamon. weirdos.

we had dinner and played cards against humanity.
I was shocked by how fifthly that game was.
 I really enjoyed it!!
it was my first time playing and I didn't win..
but it was ok, I had fun anyway.

I am even more excited now to go to Mexico for a week and have a great time with these fools!

I most certainly have posts planned for this week, I just haven't actually had the time to write any of them. You'd be surprised by how little I can actually function when I have a job. During my training portion they have me working 40+ hours a week. This was supposed to be part-time damn it! I am just not a huge fan of working... But some girl just had a baby, came back to work, and then quit. I guess being a working mom just wasn't for her.

So in any case, I should have a more entertaining post up for tomorrow. I had a pretty good Saturday night, which is rare because I live the life of a really boring 80 year old. Get excited over it, it's gonna be great.

Has anyone ever used this blogger app? I am on my iPhone at work as I type. This app is pretty good, the process hasn't been difficult at all. Just ya know, a little FYI for the road.

See you tomorrow!

spring chicken [salad]

being as it is officially the first day of spring,
I thought it might be nice to share a recipe for one of my favorite spring time foods.
plus, the title... come on. that shit is funny, cute, and tempting. you're welcome.
it has been awhile since I posted a recipe, so hopefully you like the new format and the dish.

please leave me a comment, tweet, or even better, an instagram photo letting me know if you make it and if you love it.
if you hate chicken salad or you thought my recipe was gross, you can keep that to yourself.

losing my virginity

FYI this post is about my first day at the bank.
was that title tricky? if it was, then you are a sicko.

this was not the kind of first day where you are thrown into the unknown.
overwhelmed and unsure if you will be able to cut it.
you know, the exciting/nerve wracking first day that I was hoping for.
this was the kind of first day where I met no one, saw no one, and left my bosses office one time.
I ended up spending [probably one of the longest of my life] 4.5 hours alone watching training videos and completing assessments.
I thought I got this job so I wouldn't be working in a closed up office?

one valuable thing I did learn, is that Aaron may, in fact, be an "at risk adult."
the easiest way I can think to explain that is: like an old person who's has their kids taking advantage of them.
"abuse. neglect. exploitation."
now I would not agree that I abuse him... but I do spend an awful lot of his money and I don't cook or clean all that often.
sounds to me like exploitation and neglect.
it said something about using gilt or threats in order to gain access to funds...
"honey if you don't let me buy these shoes I. will. DIE."
"I really need to get my hair done, my roots are going to humiliate you in public."

I don't know, just something to think about.

three topics

I'm sure that you are aware, that Aaron and I have been together for a very long time, but sometimes even I forget.
then I run across some horrifying photos that make it all "real" again.
the fact that we have been dating for almost half of our lives, and the fact that I used to be huge.

I know sometimes girls overreact and have weight anxiety when there seems to be no need for it.
and maybe, I have that now... but in the past I have definitely been on the wrong end of the scale.
I was incredibly unhappy with myself, jealous in my relationship, and I had horrible hair/skin.
thankfully Aaron has loved me through everything...
even when I weigh myself and proceed to cry/pout on the couch for an hour.

I feel like this is a bunch of topics rolled into one and I have no idea where it is going.
so in closing, a list of what you should have taken from this post:
1. I have incredible anxiety that I will be fat and unhealthy again, therefore I act irrationally sometimes
2. I have an amazing husband that loves me no matter what I look/act like
3. nutrition is everything, your hair and skin need you to make good choices

what's on my phone

as I sit here, continuing my True Life obsession, I am at a loss as to what to write.
therefore, I have resorted to a "what's on my phone" post.
trust me, it isn't that bad. it is way better than a weekend recap.

after I quit the gym I lost my mind a little.
fried: cheese balls, ravioli, and curly fries
after a few days, I went to Trader Joe's and tried to get back on track.
did I ever tell you that we don't have a dining room or dining table?
we don't. sometimes I eat on the floor...

I always opt for drugs whenever possible.
yes please to the gas at the dentist.

I get this sorta thing a lot.

 soy milk. vodka, protein.
what else do you need?

you need hibachi, obviously.
I like to make the classroom my own space.
I also enjoy salt and pepper.

I didn't realize that this whole post would be food related.
it is becoming more and more clear why I am chubby.
hope you ate before you read this!

quiz the groom

I haven't really talked all that much about our engagement period,
because, frankly, it was stressful and short,
certainly not the best time in my life as I thought it would be.

however, I was cleaning my office today and found a special highlight.
Megan [basically maid-of-honor] compiled a quiz for Aaron to complete for our bachelor/bachlorette party.
pretty much like the "newly wed game", Aaron answered and then I was drunk quizzed later.
I wouldn't say I remember clearly, but I think I only got one wrong which means he did amazingly.
it even made me cry, more than once, so I thought I would share.
[now that I have started typing I realize there will be some answers that I will NOT be sharing lol]
  1. How did you meet?  "originally? middle school... but we didn't actually hangout until I got kicked out of Mr. Jett's social studies class for her. in... 10th? grade."  I do not recall this situation...
  2. What was your official first date? "I don't think we had one, she did however, make me wait a day to officially ask her out so that our anniversary was on the 13th... see how things have changed?" so embarrassing...what is wrong with me? and yeah, I'm still totally bossy #control freak
  3. First Kiss (where/when)? "Back of her mom's Saturn, we were eating a pretzel." I 100% do not remember this... I thought it was up north. I am a horrible wife.
  4. First I love you (how did it happen/who said it first)? "I don't remember, but I can guarantee I was first and it was not reciprocated! So I have blocked it out! :)" complete fact. I'm pretty sure it was on the phone..
  5. What is your favorite thing about her? "She won't know this one, but in general she is just a good person, a huge pain in the ass, but she tries." don't tell anyone, I'm trying to keep up appearances.
  6. What is her favorite thing about you? "She'll never admit it, but she thinks I'm pretty darn funny." he is right, I won't admit it.
  7. When did you know you were going to marry her? "I'm not sure specifically, but it was a looong time ago."
  8. What is your favorite thing she cooks? "Delivery" what a dick lol
  9. What is her worst habit? "Leaving shoes all over the damned house" haha that is like beyond true. I have a real problem...
  10. How many kids do you want to have? Two, non-negotiable, she knows the rules." we are having one.
  11. Where would you most like to vacation? "Panama... forever." he is determined to move to Panama and sometimes when I am really drunk I cry about it... lol
I hope you maybe learned something new about me,
I really had to censor this quiz Megan, you dirty freak!

work it gurl

I feel like I have probably used that title before..
I also feel like it kinda reads like "working girl" aka hooker...

everybody needs a workout partner

after quitting my CrossFit gym a little over a month ago,
I have been having a pretty difficult time with weight gain and laziness.
I have the time, I just do not have the drive.
recently my husband [Aaron] has really been taking on a healthy lifestyle.
there is nothing more motivating than the person you love the most making healthy changes.
I think the best way for me to approach the situation of getting back on track is making weekly goals.
weekly goals that I post about and then follow up on.
I feel like judgement really drives me more than anything else, and I think that is true for most.

[March 13th - March 20th]

I am going to need to find a better way of posting this stuff...
any suggestions would be great!

[March] beauty favorites

this is not a typical kind of post for me,
but now that I am starting to use more and more "beauty" related products,
I just feel a major need to share what I have learned and what I love.
pretty sure that is my inner blogger trying to speak out.

some of these products have been out for awhile,
so don't be all, "Amanda that bronzer came out 3 years ago!"
they are pretty new to me and, of course, they are still great.
plus most of them are drug store products,
which is even better because it means they are cheap.

let's get into it.
