the best trip ever!

Before I get started with today's #BLOGTOBER14 post, I would like to take a moment to speak to all of you "no-reply-comment" girls!! You guys have to stop it. You leave me with awesome comments that I 100% want to respond to (and sometimes do, where do those emails go I wonder...), then I can't send my carefully crafted responses because you don't have email set up. This is bringing me down ladies. I have more blog friends than I have "real" friends, and trust me, I want more!

Helene tweeted me a great link for getting the issue resolved, so please make sure you aren't torturing me, ok?

Day Seven: The Best Vacation

I'm not about the negativity right now, so, I decided to write about my favorite vacation, rather than one that wasn't all that great. Thankfully, our California trip is still fresh in my mind, but check back in November and I might have a new choice. But that's a whole other story! (such a tease, I know)

We went to California the last week of August and I flew round-trip for $13 (thank you Delta Skymiles!). We visited San Diego, San Francisco, Hollywood, and Anza-Borrego. Literally, the best $13 I have ever spent. I guess I haven't really been to THAT many states (probably around 10), but California is definitely one of my favorites.

It really blows my mind how you can go on a drive for a couple of hours (which Aaron and I do a lot), and see the ocean, the mountains, and the desert. And don't even get me started on the wildlife and landscape (god I love palm trees)! This was also my first time swimming in the ocean. And by swimming I mean, playing in the ocean trying not to drown with my husband. It was amazing and terrifying all at the same time. And what's the deal with stingrays? I am NOT a fan.

Seriously, everything about this trip was so, extremely, cool. Just seeing things that I never thought I would see (Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign, massive mountains, the legit desert)... it is still, sometimes, too much for me to grasp. I feel so incredibly lucky to have visited this place, and to have done it with such an amazing travel buddy. Aaron really is the best travel companion you could ask for. He lets you see whatever you want (Hollywood), he takes you to places that are just like home but you think are different (in-n-out), and he doesn't divorce you when you navigate to the wrong hotel (did it twice). Aaron is amazing, California is amazing, and that finishes this amazing post.

  3. You just described every little thing I feel as well about our California trip this summer. I still daydream about it daily and can't believe it really happened!

  4. When we first moved to CA I was not in love, but now that we've been here for 3.5 years I would be happy never leaving. I love it for all the reasons you said. We live in the desert which is probably why I hated it, but it's refreshing to know we can be at the beach in 1.5 hours, Las Vegas or San Diego in 3, the mountains in 1.5, Disneyland is a day trip and the countless other things that are happening in CA every single day. We are spoiled and I'm sad that our time here is going to come to an end sooner rather than later.
